Why Is SEO Important?

Why Is SEO Important?

Today I’m going to be talking about Search Engine Optimization or SEO. You know the one, which is the dirty little secret that every online business owner goes to great lengths to learn and achieve, but some of you might be asking:

WHY BOTHER?

Well, the answer is SEO works to achieve better relevancy of the material that is posted to the internet, to the keywords (the word or strain of words) used to find certain information within the various search engines.

Websites or individual posts/pages data is gathered and then shared by the search engines for the world’s personal computer and mobile device user’s searches.  These searches are conducted to collect information about every topic known to mankind that creates problems, merchandise, or solutions.

Or in other words, everything you could ever possibly imagine or want to know about the human race, reality, and fictionality. Many newer online entrepreneurs reading this right now might be asking:

Why is SEO important in graphic Art form with a pretty star burst behind a bold blue text

While the more seasoned business owners reading this, knows why, and are continuously searching for new advanced technology to assist them in improving their Search Engine Results Page (SERP)’s any way that is legal and is free to download or implement to keep their business’ operational expenses to a minimum thusly maximizing profitability.

The search engines are the king of sorting out and providing the most relevant material to any term or subject searched on their website.  So you might still be thinking about what this has to do with you the online business owner?

Well, what you might not realize is that the search engines are the largest source of free traffic on the internet, because when someone searches online for the weather (one of the top 10 most popular searched terms on Google in February 2019, according to aherfs.com).

As a matter of fact, over 52 million people searched for the weather.  So image if you were a weather station won’t you want to have the search engines direct traffic to your website instead of your competitor’s website.

This is where SEO plays into the popularity contest of getting ranked a being the most relevant website for the inquiry request, searched for the weather.  Now the top-ranked listing for every searched performed gets roughly 85% or more of the organic traffic created from search engine searches.

Stands to reason right, according to the search engine’s algorithms the number one listing is the most relevant and popular website of all the websites competing for the keyword “the weather”.   So it would only stand to reason to want to earn the number one SERP position.

SEO PRACTICES REALLY HELP?

Now when we step back and look at this from a business owners point of view, SEO practices in most cases improve your websites SERP and SEO can be achieved by daily practices and practices completed for all material submitted to our website for public viewing on the internet.

So let’s define SEO shall we, the problem with SEO it’s one of those things, where if you were to ask 100 different SEO managers their definition of SEO. . .

Greetings to my Blog, Why SEO is important. I hope you are having an amazing day

Just me CAL

WHAT IS SEO?

Okay, where were we!

. . . you most likely will receive 100 different versions of the same basic meaning as to what SEO is, and even a long list if you were to ask those same executives:

What is the most important part of daily SEO practice that a business owner should remain focused on to greatly improve his SEO ranking within the search engines?

You will most likely get 100 different version of the same answer once again.  The reason being most people actually don’t know all the features that the search engine’s algorithms what to see in a website or the exact order of importance of the features being sought by them.

This is why so many think that SEO is so difficult, but the golden rule:

Give the customer what they want and they will be more than happy to pay for it, that is why SEO is important to you as an private business owner.

Still applies today, and still stands true.  And in reality that is all that the search engines are trying to accomplish with their super complex ranking programs.

Once we get into the many, many different things that can be done to improve SEO and a business’ SERPs you will see why we can and would receive so many different definitions and important factors to SEO.

So whenever I come across a question that the industry leaders can’t come up with a single agreeable definition of something, I rely on the internet to come up with a solution or answer the burning agonizing questions 🙂 about life for me.

Dictionary.com defines SEO as –“the methods used to boost the ranking or frequency of a website in results returned by a search engine, in an effort to maximize user traffic to the site: The first step in SEO is to generate keywords that are relevant to your site’s content.

And yet  Wikipedia.org defines Search Engine Optimization as – “the process of affecting the online visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural”, “organic”, or “earned” results.

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a website appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users; these visitors can then be converted into customers” So why do so many businesses even worry about SEO?

THE IMPORTANCE OF SEO

So let’s do a little bit of a recap here so I know for sure that you fully understand the total impact the FREE search engine results have on any businesses’ future.

If any current start-up business’ chances of becoming or growing to a level that all business owners, I know strive for, and that’s self-supported sustainability of the business, leading to the ultimate goal of creating a profit or passive long term income.

The largest source of traffic is, of course, the search engines they get more visits to their website by people conducting Free search than any other websites on the internet try an estimated 10.3 billion search inquiries in July 2018 alone and the breakdown on who handles what percentage of those searches looks something like this:

Google with 78.23%, Bing with 8.04%, Baidu with 7.34%, Yahoo! With 3.39%, and Yandex with 11.53% all of the January 2019 market (according to Market Share.com).

That’s just naming the top 5 of the 27 general search engines worldwide listed on Wikipedia there are many others that are topically related that search by categories only like:

A lisitng of serch;platforms besides the big 10 showing there are many reason why SEO is important and not just to get traffic form Google.

Now when you think about it, the various search engines process over 343 million search queries on a daily basis worldwide, that is a lot of potential customers looking at the results of those search queries, it’s free to do the searches: that’s why there might be so many done daily.

Equally important, in most case it’s free to be placed in the search engine results.  Each search engine has the own set of priority itemized algorithms that it uses to rank every single bit of material that is and ever has been submitted/published on the internet.

These algorithm specifics are safeguarded by the search engines so that individuals cannot corrupt or break their list of items within their system by learning that exact item of each requirement and its priority to getting ranked by relevancy in the SERP.

ORGANIC TRAFFIC SOURCES

Something else to remember is that each niche will not have that many searches conducted on it on a daily basis, but the higher in the searches you can get the more likely that you will draw traffic from those organic (free, by using SEO techniques) traffic sources.  And I ask you, what is better than increased website traffic for free than any other kind?

The techniques that I will be disclosing is nothing more than information that I have gathered over the years, different tests I personally have conducted, and tests from colleagues that I feel are well trustworthy (or I wouldn’t share their testing results) to compare SERP.

This is the hard way of finding out what elements of SEO are important to each of the Search Engines because each one has their own set of parameters for the purpose of ranking positions within their prospective platforms.

Google the number one search engine often supplies many SEO suggestions on how to improve your ranking, and prevent self-sabotaging your SERP without revealing any of their algorithm’s secrets.

Additionally, if you can figure out how to get any blog or material you publish on the internet into a first page top 5 positions you will control 95% percent of all click after the initial search was performed the number one spot gets over 90% of all traffic from each search after the results are shown.

So now you see why getting your SEO done correctly can make a big difference to your online businesses profits or at least the sales portion of the equation.  Well, think about your business and how increased website traffic affects the amount of money you can make with that website.

The more traffic you get the more potential customers you would end up having.  In other words, if you only have 200 visitors to your website each month and you’re making $200.00 from those visitors image what you could be making if you had an increase your website traffic to 2,000 visitors every month, or even 20,000 visitors your profits would go right up with the traffic increase.

Actually, improved visitor traffic will help with all online presence and it can even help brick and motor establishments also.

HOW YOU ASK?

Well if you own a store in the middle of a strip store not many people visit the shopping center so not many people even know that your business is open and welcoming customers.

If you had an online website promoting your store people could see you online and then come visit the store this would also increase your visitors turning into customers.

Because the more people that see your business promoting website online will be more likely to come to visit your brick and mortar establishment only if they plan on buying something.

Because they have a pretty good idea of what you are selling at the strip store location prior to ever walking in the front door, form viewing the online promoting website.

So now we understand how SEO helps a brick and mortar establishment, how does it help an online website?

It serves the same purpose for an online presence as it does a brick and mortar business, by increasing not just traffic to your website; but traffic that is interested in your niche and what you are writing about (with a blog style website), or your products in an e-commerce or a business promoting website.

Equally important is the fact since they know prior to arriving at your website what you have to offer it eliminates most of the people that are just sitting around bored and browsing the internet.

Since you have already peaked there curiosity, chances are they will be more likely to make a purchase than if someone just happened to come across your websites and was looking around to see what you had on it.

Let’s face it, those of us that are in business, are in it to make money somehow: most prefer to offer needed services, help solve problems, or produce job opportunities for other people to become their employees that make money for the business while earning money for themselves such as in manufacturing companies.

Furthermore, these operational practices and principles of business have been around since people first learned to barter with one another.

However, the most recent twist brought on, by the popularity of the internet, to the business equation of staying profitable is the way to produce traffic (potential customers) from the search engine results (organic traffic).

This shift in customer procurement to free online sources has increased the popularity of SEO especially in the last couple of years, as more and more of the population have begun using the internet.

As of June 2018 slightly more than half of the world’s population with internet access of some sort or other whether it’s hardwired or via blue tooth to traveling across the airwaves on mobile devices like tablets and cell phones.

Nowadays organic traffic which is the main byproduct from consistent harsh, sever, and stern SEO practices, assist businesses to produce increased website traffic and at the same time allow them ways to advertise their businesses that will only cost them their time and in most cases not much (compared to other advertising methods) or even any of their money.

SHOW ME THE MONEY

So let me reword that if I owned a weather website I could possibly get 52 million Free people to come and visit my website on a monthly bases.  Well according to ahrefs.comh it is one of the top ten most frequent searches “weather” of February 2019 that is just one single keyword for one month.

So I ask: Is that worth spending some time on improving SEO skills?  Of course, it is, the potential money to be made off of 52 million monthly website visitors is astronomical.

Think about this, just by placing an ad that you get paid .03 cents for every time someone clicks on it.

That would make you rich in the first 90 days of having it on your website.  52 million times .03 cents or 26 million if only half of your visitors clicked on the advertisement and that would still total 780 thousand dollars a month!

Let’s say only one in ten people click on the ad, which would still bring in 156 thousand dollars a month.  So are you starting to see why SEO can be very important to your website now?

Of course, those figures are exaggerated for demonstration purposes, but I am sure you understand how the search engines free traffic could be very important to any online business owner.

The results from the online searches could actually affect offline brick and mortar establishments just as much as it does online businesses.

It’s free there is no monthly cost to posting material to the internet, of course, you have the initial cost of the website, the hosting services, and the salary of the person submitting the material.

But if you created and submitted the material in your spare time the only cost over the website’s operational costs, would be your time.

So the picture is painted, proper or sloppy SEO practices could ultimately or potentially make or break (respectively) a new business or a business that operates solely online.

THE DOWN & DIRTY SEO TRUTH

Once you have achieved the number one placement position for a keyword there are only a few things that will knock you out of that spot.

The first is someone else gets ranked better, than it is only a matter of some editing or adding more relevant material to your existing material to once again make your material more relevant.

The second is that the search engine made a major algorithm change and you were not following the overall practice of SEO.

When this happens: you should go back and assure all your links are still active, find out what the major changes in the algorithms happened, so that you can make the necessary adjustments to improve your SERP back to where it was prior to the changes.

If the SEO adjustments you make after the change don’t improve your SERPs then chances are that the change the search engine made greatly affected the ranking to your type of website or the niche you are in.

The advantage to SEO is if you do it completely the way the search engine wants it done (being totally compliant) then your placement in their rankings will provide you with:

SEO Mangers like to tell people its hard to do SEO. The thurth is it creates a passive income and if done correctly for a vey long time.

And until someone outranks you for your position or ranking your sites will not drastically change unless the search engines make a change that directly affects your website.

Or you make a change to your website that drastically changes your relevancy to the keyword: and/or you are in a very highly competitive niche or market

Additionally, any business owner that has been in business for any length of time knows it’s vital to boost much-wanted growth and buildup of customers that purchase items on their websites most either pay for that traffic increase or obtain it through organic (free) traffic gathering SEO practices.

STEADY CONSISTENT SEO IS BEST

These, On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO practices if done correctly over time should create a noticeable increase to website traffic while also expanding their brand’s exposure within their industries segment of the market (niche) of the internet

This aspect of continued passive income creation has not only increased the modern business owner to strive to understand and implement better SEO policies.  But it has also increased the curiosity of non-business owners, to go into business for themselves.

Because now with cookie cutter website, it is relatively cheap (in most cases you can get started for roughly 500.00 US dollars for the first year) to start your own website and operate from your private computer and internet connection.

One such community of like-minded individual business owners that openly support the new business owner is Wealthy Affiliate this platform and its community have and are still helping thousands and thousands of small first-time business owners how to do it from the ground up.

For new and older business owners alike, smart consistent daily SEO practices, much like those taught in the community of the link provided above, and could become very lucrative for them to improve upon if it can indeed increase their overall website traffic simultaneously.

Of course with anything that you do in the business world, it may take up to 60 days to start seeing the differences proper SEO practices will produce, and in some of the more competitive niches it could take much longer than that to reap the fruits of this hard work SEO ethics. The funny thing about SEO is if you ask 100 SEO managers from around the world:

Now when you think about it, the various search engines process over 3.5 billion search queries on a daily basis worldwide, that is a lot of potential customers looking at the results of those search queries.

Now, it’s free to do the searches (that’s why there might be so many done daily), and in most cases, it’s free to be placed in the search engine results also called Search Engine Results Position (SERP).

Each search engine has the own set of priorities (called algorithms) that it uses to rank every single bit of material that is and was ever submitted/published on the internet.

These algorithm specifics are safeguarded by the search engines so that individuals cannot corrupt or break their list of items within their system by learning that exact item of each requirement and its priority to getting ranked by relevancy in the SERP.

Now each niche will not have that many searches conducted on it on a daily basis, but the higher in the searches you can get the more likely that you will draw traffic from those organic (free, by using SEO techniques) traffic sources.

And I ask you,

“What is better than increased website traffic for free than any other kind?”

IN CONCLUSION

Okay, so that took much longer than expected!

Well wrapping it all up, it’s not a question as to, “If SEO is important?” I think we all understand (if you didn’t before you should now) that as long as the search engines use keywords, length of time someone spends on your website, and the amount of visitor engagement you offer on your website as key ranking factors (along with the other 197) SEO is important to all business owner that has some sort of online presence.

Yes, even brick and mortar shops will benefit from SEO practices on their e-commerce websites, much like affiliate marketers will benefit from the free traffic too.  So SEO is important to help provide free organic website traffic on a daily basis to help entrepreneurs succeed in the business model of their choice
